Keremeos, Osoyoos Loop

Driving time 3 hours and 15 minutes from Peachland and back. 240 KLM.

The lower Similkameen Valley in British Columbia’s arid southern interior is filled with orchards, ranches, and wineries, with an ethos of organic farming. The upper Similkameen is home to an abundance of wildlife and outdoor recreation sites. Similkameen means “People of the River”.

The Keremeos– Osoyoos trip takes you through beautiful country on a winding road with many elevation changes. A perfect drive for people who enjoy the driving experience of handling their car or motorcycle. You will experience many changes in landscape and climate and their influences on the wines.

Osoyoos is a town in the Okanagan Valley region of British Columbia, Canada. It’s surrounded by desert, vineyards, and mountains. Osoyoos Lake is known for its warm water, beaches, and water sports facilities. Nk’Mip Desert Cultural Centre and Osoyoos Desert Centre have hands-on exhibits and trails exploring the local desert ecosystem.

Beautiful drive to Summerland along the lake. As you come into town from the north you will pass Sumac Ridge Winery and Back Door Winery.

Mountain Goats Watch for the adobe style Guest Inn called La Punta Norte on your left just before Summerland. As soon as you pass the Inn watch for mountain goats on the mountain side and the rock cliff on your right.

Once you pass Summerland the highway drops down to lake level. On your right you will see hoodoo cliff formations and, on your left, looking across the lake, you will see the Naramata Bench wine country.

Continue south to Penticton. Continue south through Kaleden and take Highway 3A exit (turn right) to Vancouver/Keremeos. Continue to Keremeos. About halfway to Keremeos you will come to the Twin Lakes Golf Course and Yellow Lake. Yellow Lake has a rest stop at each end.

Vanessa Vineyard Situated on the hillside overlooking the Similkameen Valley, Vanessa Vineyard grows its grapes on 75 acres of sloping, well drained rocky terrain. Seven Stones Winery is an estate boutique winery located in the pristine Similkameen Valley. The wines are made in a French style that are very elegant and show the best of grape variety. The winery produces about 4200 cases from hand-picked grapes that are grown on site.
